What is a Whole Grain?

To be considered a whole grain, all the essential parts of the grain (bran, endosperm and germ) must still be intact.  Any processing of the grain should still preserve the grain's naturally occurring nutrients. 

Why Eat Whole Grains?

Whole grains are rich in fiber, vitamins and minerals. They contain more protein than refined varieties and more antioxidants than some varieties of produce. These once-rare grains are healthy, sustainable, and can be found in most supermarkets.

You've probably heard of whole wheat, but there are plenty of other whole grains that are fairly easy to incorporate into your diet.

  • Brown Rice

  • Corn
  • Millet
  • Oats
  • Popcorn
